This challenging e-mountain bike tour combines the tranquillity of the Algarve’s hinterland with the breathtaking drama of the Atlantic coast – and, thanks to electric assistance, opens up entirely new ways to experience the region to the full. The starting point is the charming village of Paderne, from where the route leads straight into a varied network of gravel tracks and winding single tracks.

The advantages of the e-bike become apparent right from the first few kilometres: longer climbs and steep gradients can be tackled with minimal effort, leaving more energy for the technical sections. The route winds through hilly countryside, past olive trees and dry riverbeds. Time and again, views open up over the typical Algarve landscape, until finally the deep blue of the Atlantic appears in the distance. Eventually, you reach the famous cliffs around Albufeira – the highlight of the tour. Here, the trail runs directly along the cliffs: narrow paths, sandy sections and short technical passages demand full concentration and precise riding technique, despite the motor assistance. The view of the Atlantic, the rugged rock formations and the constant drop-off make this section a real spine-tingling experience.

Thanks to the electric drive, there’s enough power left to enjoy the coastal sections at a leisurely pace and still ride dynamically on the way back. A mix of gravel tracks and small side roads takes you back inland to Paderne – without tired legs and with a broad grin on your face.
